China launches mission with first civilian to space station

China successfully launched three astronauts to its Tiangong space station on Tuesday, including the first Chinese civilian in space. Shenzhou-16 is the first mission to Tiangong since it entered its “application and development” stage. The crew’s mission includes the study of quantum phenomena, high-precision space time-frequency systems, the verification of general relativity, and the origin of life.
