A strong earthquake in northwest Nepal has resulted in the death of 157 people. Most of the fatalities occurred when houses made of rocks and logs collapsed. Rescue efforts have been hindered by blocked roads and the remote nature of the affected villages. Aid is being flown in to provide shelter, food, and medicine to those affected. The earthquake had a magnitude of 5.6 and its epicenter was in Jajarkot, about 400 kilometers northeast of Kathmandu.
