Sierra Leone information minister says weekend attack was a failed coup

Sierra Leone's government said attacks in Freetown were a failed attempt to overthrow the government led by former president Ernest Bai Koroma's bodyguards. Investigations are ongoing, but the former president is not directly linked to the plot. Gunmen attacked a military barracks, prison, and other locations, killing over 20 people and freeing 2,200 inmates. Thirteen military officers and a civilian have been arrested, with several others on a wanted list.
