White bike installations pop up across New York as reminder of road safety

On a chilly Saturday evening in April, Kevin Daloia arrived at East 161st Street and Melrose Avenue in the Bronx with a white bicycle he had painted. He locked the bicycle to a pole and stood on its seat to mount a metal sign above it. Thierno Balde, the cyclist mentioned, was tragically hit by a car on February 23 while returning home from prayers at his mosque.
