France President Macron calls snap legislative elections after loss to far-right in EU polls

French President Emmanuel Macron has announced the dissolution of parliament and called for snap legislative elections following the far-right's strong showing in the EU polls. The first round of elections for the National Assembly is set for June 30, with the second round on July 7. Macron acknowledged that the EU election results were unfavorable for pro-European parties, noting that far-right parties in France secured nearly 40 percent of the vote.
